Browse pet tools by topic
Every tool on XpertsPet belongs to one pet and one topic. This page lists all 1,221 pet-and-topic pages in one place, so you can come at it from either direction. If you know the question but want to compare species, filter by topic. If you know the animal, type its name. Either way you land on a page that lists every tool for that pair, such as dog nutrition or leopard gecko housing.
There are 20 topics in total. Not every pet has every one, because not every question applies. Fish have water quality tools but no grooming planner; chickens have egg yield calculators but no training schedule. When a topic is missing for a pet, it is because it does not fit that animal, not because we forgot it.
The main topics, in plain words
Age, weight and growth
Age tools turn a birthday into a life stage and, where it makes sense, a human-year equivalent. Weight tools show healthy ranges, predict adult weight for young animals and track growth over time. Together they answer the two questions owners ask most: "Is this normal for their age?" and "Are they the right size?". Try the cat age or rabbit weight pages to see how they work.
Nutrition and water
Nutrition tools work out calories, portion sizes, feeding schedules and daily water needs, and they flag foods that are unsafe for each species. For aquarium keepers, the separate water quality topic covers water changes, cycling and test results, which matter more to fish than almost anything in the food tin.
Housing and environment
Housing calculators size cages, tanks, hutches, coops and paddocks from the animal's adult size and activity. Environment tools check temperature, humidity, lighting and heating, and they are most useful for reptiles, amphibians and tropical fish, which depend on you for the right conditions. See bearded dragon environment for an example.
Health, safety and medication
Health tools cover body condition scoring, vaccination and check-up schedules, dental care and symptom guides. Safety tools check toxic foods and plants and help you plan a safer home. The dosage topic gives weight-based reference doses for common treatments, to discuss with your vet rather than to replace them.
Breeding and genetics
Breeding tools count gestation and incubation days, track cycles and estimate litter or clutch sizes. Genetics calculators predict coat colors, patterns and morphs from a planned pairing. Pages like dog breeding and ball python genetics show how much the details differ between species.
Cost, insurance and the practical side
Cost calculators estimate setup and monthly spending, and insurance tools weigh premiums against likely vet bills. Smaller topics cover names, identification and sexing, behavior, grooming, exercise, training, adoption and production for farm animals.
How the topic pages help
Each pet-and-topic page starts with a short explanation, lists every tool in that group with a one-line description, and then explains what you should know about that species before you use them. A hamster housing page talks about floor space and bedding depth; a horse nutrition page talks about forage and body weight. The goal is that you understand the reasoning, not just copy a number.
The tools themselves follow the same pattern. Each one explains what it is, how to use it and how the result is worked out, then lists its sources: veterinary manuals, university extension services and welfare organisations. You can check the reference behind any figure in a couple of clicks.
Comparing the same topic across pets
One reason to browse by topic is to compare. If you are choosing between a guinea pig and a rabbit, filtering by cost or housing shows the difference in space and money side by side. If you keep a mixed household, filtering by nutrition or safety gives you each animal's needs in one list. And the general and multi-pet tools cover questions that cross species, such as comparing lifetime costs.
Free, quick and private
Every tool is free and runs in your browser. There is no account, and nothing you enter is stored on our servers. Results appear straight away and can be saved or shared, which makes it easy to keep a simple record for your vet.
If you would rather start from the animal, the pets directory lists every species with its own page.
