Degu Housing tools: what they help with
These calculators size your degu's living space: the minimum and recommended dimensions, how much bedding or substrate to buy and what fits in the space you have. Too little space is one of the most common welfare problems in pets. The right size gives a degu room to move, rest and behave normally.
What to know about housing and enclosure size for degus
Degus cannot process sugar and develop diabetes readily, so their diet must be strictly hay-based with no fruit. They are highly social, diurnal, and need a large multi-level cage with a sand bath. Target humidity is around 40-60%.

A practical tip
Treat the minimum as the floor, not the goal. Bigger is almost always better, especially for active or social species.
