Rabbit care tools and calculators
There are 31 tools for rabbits on XpertsPet, sorted into 17 topics such as age, behavior, breeding, cost, grooming and health. The cards above take you straight to each group. Below is a short guide to what they cover and which ones are most useful at different points in your rabbit's life.
Rabbits at a glance
A healthy rabbit usually lives 8 to 12 years, so the care decisions you make now play out over a long time. Rabbits are herbivores, which shapes what you feed and how much. They mature quickly, at around 7 months.
Rabbits need a large pen or free-roam room rather than a hutch, with unlimited hay, a litter tray and several hours of daily exercise outside the enclosure.
The health problems vets see most often in rabbits include dental overgrowth from too little hay, GI stasis, flystrike and uterine cancer in unspayed females.
Gestation in rabbits runs about 28 to 33 days.
