Cichlid Environment tools: what they help with
These tools check the conditions your cichlid lives in: temperature and humidity ranges, lighting distances, heater sizing and other habitat numbers. Many cichlids cannot regulate their own body temperature or humidity. When the enclosure is off, health problems follow, often slowly enough that they are missed.
What to know about environment and habitat conditions for cichlids
Cichlid needs vary sharply by origin: African rift lake species want hard alkaline water and rockwork, South American species want soft acidic water. Most are territorial and need stocking planned to spread aggression.

A practical tip
Measure with a digital thermometer and hygrometer at the animal's level, not near the heat source. Readings a few centimetres apart can differ a lot.
