Chicken Housing tools: what they help with
These calculators size your chicken's living space: the minimum and recommended dimensions, how much bedding or substrate to buy and what fits in the space you have. Too little space is one of the most common welfare problems in pets. The right size gives a chicken room to move, rest and behave normally.
What to know about housing and enclosure size for chickens
Allow roughly 0.4 square meters of coop floor and 1 square meter of run per bird, with 20-25cm of roosting bar each and one nest box per three to four hens. Predator-proofing must include a dig-proof skirt. Target humidity is around 40-60%.

A practical tip
Treat the minimum as the floor, not the goal. Bigger is almost always better, especially for active or social species.
