Quail Production tools: what they help with
These calculators estimate what a quail produces, such as eggs, milk, wool or meat, based on breed, age and how it is kept. For a smallholding, realistic yield numbers decide how many animals you need and whether the feed bill makes sense.
What to know about production and yield for quail
Quail typically live 2 to 4 years. Quail are ground birds that panic-fly straight upward, so enclosures need a soft or low roof to prevent head injuries. They mature in six weeks and lay prolifically, making them the fastest route to home eggs in a small space.

A practical tip
Expect yields to drop with age, heat, molting and stress. Plan around the average year, not the best one.
