Slug Environment tools: what they help with
These tools check the conditions your slug lives in: temperature and humidity ranges, lighting distances, heater sizing and other habitat numbers. Many slugs cannot regulate their own body temperature or humidity. When the enclosure is off, health problems follow, often slowly enough that they are missed.
What to know about environment and habitat conditions for slugs
Pet slugs need consistently damp substrate and high humidity, since without a shell they dry out faster than snails. They are nocturnal and need a tightly fitting but ventilated lid. Target humidity is around 80-95%.

A practical tip
Measure with a digital thermometer and hygrometer at the animal's level, not near the heat source. Readings a few centimetres apart can differ a lot.

Environment tools for other pets
The same kind of tool exists for other species, each using that animal's own reference data: tarantula environment, scorpion environment, hermit crab environment and land crab environment.
