Ball pythons at a glance
With good care, ball pythons typically live 20-30 years. Ball pythons are carnivores, which shapes what you feed and how much. Most adults weigh around 1.2-2.5 kg. They reach maturity at about 3 years old.
Adults need at least a 120x60cm enclosure with a warm side around 31C, a cool side near 24C, humidity of 55-65%, and two tight hides. They are ambush animals and stress without enough cover.
The health problems vets see most often in ball pythons include respiratory infection from low temperature or high humidity, scale rot, retained eye caps and mites.
Eggs usually take 55 to 60 days to hatch.
