Peafowl care tools and calculators
There are 20 tools for peafowl on XpertsPet, sorted into 12 topics such as age, behavior, breeding, cost, health and housing. The cards above take you straight to each group. Below is a short guide to what they cover and which ones are most useful at different points in your peafowl's life.
Peafowl at a glance
With good care, peafowl typically live 15-20 years. Peafowl are omnivores, which shapes what you feed and how much. Most adults weigh around 2.5-6 kg. They reach maturity at about 2 years old.
Peafowl need substantial space and tall roosting, and peacocks call loudly through the breeding season. They roam and fly well, so containment requires a very large covered pen or acceptance that they will wander.
The health problems vets see most often in peafowl include blackhead disease from shared ground with chickens, internal parasites, cold damage to feet and predation.
Eggs usually take 27 to 30 days to hatch.
