Crested geckos at a glance
Expect a lifespan of roughly 15 to 20 years for a well-kept crested gecko. Crested geckos are frugivores, which shapes what you feed and how much. Most adults weigh around 35-55 g. They reach maturity at about 1.3 years old.
Crested geckos are arboreal and need a tall planted enclosure rather than a wide one, kept at room temperature between 22-26C. They thrive on prepared powdered diets and cannot tolerate heat above 28C.
The health problems vets see most often in crested geckos include metabolic bone disease, floppy tail syndrome, heat stress above 28C and retained shed on toes.
Eggs usually take 60 to 90 days to hatch.
