Anoles at a glance
A healthy anole usually lives 4 to 8 years, so the care decisions you make now play out over a long time. Anoles are insectivores, which shapes what you feed and how much. Most adults weigh around 3-8 g. They mature quickly, at around 9 months.
Anoles are small, fast arboreal lizards best kept as a display species rather than a handling pet. They need a tall planted vivarium with UVB, daily misting, and males must never be housed together.
The health problems vets see most often in anoles include metabolic bone disease, dehydration, stress from handling and mouth rot.
Eggs usually take 30 to 45 days to hatch.
