Stick insects at a glance
With good care, stick insects typically live 1-2 years. Stick insects are herbivores, which shapes what you feed and how much. Most adults weigh around 1-200 g. They mature quickly, at around 6 months.
Stick insects need a mesh enclosure at least three times their length in height for molting, and a constant supply of fresh live foodplant, usually bramble or privet depending on the species.
The health problems vets see most often in stick insects include failed molt, dehydration, pesticide poisoning from foodplant and mold from poor ventilation.
