Guppy care tools and calculators
This page brings together every XpertsPet tool for guppies: 17 in all, across 10 topics including age, behavior, breeding, cost, environment and health. Pick a topic above to see its tools, or read on for a quick guide to what each group does and where to start.
Guppies at a glance
A healthy guppy usually lives 2 to 3 years, so the care decisions you make now play out over a long time. Guppies are omnivores, which shapes what you feed and how much. They mature quickly, at around 3 months.
Guppies are hardy livebearers that breed relentlessly, so a mixed-sex tank multiplies fast. A 40 liter tank with gentle filtration suits a small group, ideally two or three females per male.
The health problems vets see most often in guppies include fin rot, ich, guppy disease (tetrahymena) and dropsy.
