Caique care tools and calculators
There are 24 tools for caiques on XpertsPet, sorted into 13 topics such as age, behavior, breeding, cost, environment and grooming. The cards above take you straight to each group. Below is a short guide to what they cover and which ones are most useful at different points in your caique's life.
Caiques at a glance
A healthy caique usually lives 25 to 40 years, so the care decisions you make now play out over a long time. Caiques are omnivores, which shapes what you feed and how much. Most adults weigh around 140-180 g. They reach maturity at about 3 years old.
Caiques are stocky, relentlessly energetic parrots often described as the clowns of the parrot world. They hop rather than fly between perches and need a cage with lots of floor-level play space plus heavy daily enrichment.
The health problems vets see most often in caiques include obesity from inactivity, feather plucking, aggression toward other birds and aspergillosis.
Eggs usually take 25 to 27 days to hatch.
