What Is the Chocolate Toxicity Calculator?

The Dog Chocolate Toxicity Calculator instantly assesses risk when your dog eats chocolate — by type, amount, and body weight. The danger varies enormously by chocolate type: baking chocolate is 22 times more toxic per gram than white chocolate.

Every result is based on published veterinary research and veterinarian-reviewed formulas — not generic averages. Completely free, works instantly, requires no account or sign-up.

How It Works

The toxic compound is theobromine. White chocolate has ~35mg/oz, milk chocolate ~64mg/oz, dark chocolate 150-400mg/oz, and baking chocolate up to 450mg/oz. Total theobromine ÷ body weight gives mg/kg. GI symptoms begin at ~20mg/kg. Cardiac symptoms above 40-50mg/kg. Potentially lethal above 100mg/kg.
